Swain Brook Campground and RV Park is located at the base of the White Mountain National Forest on the south side of Sentinel Mountain in New Hampshire. Being in the heart of New England makes camping at Swain Brook a great central location for traveling New Hampshire and Vermont. The campground is also within striking distance to Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut and upstate New York!

The campground covers 417 forest acres, including several mountain brooks. The 65 acre camping area is located at the southern section of the property with the remaining 352 forest acres occupied with our very own nature park with trails to great viewing areas and hiking for both the experienced and inexperienced hiker. Swain Brook Information

Swain Brook Campground and RV Park first opened in May of 1995 in rustic Wentworth, New Hampshire. Wentworth is located in the southwest section of the White Mountains, approximately 12 miles west of I-93 and 12 miles east of I-91 (Vermont). The town is a small rural community with one general store, various historic buildings, and lots of forest space; this is perfect for campers who are looking to escape the urban scene. Make Swain Brook your home base for quiet family camping. Hike our nature trails and explore the surrounding White Mountain and New England area also. Wentworth is part of the Baker River Valley, comprised of several small towns and is considered to be in the "quiet section" of New Hampshire. If you are looking to relax away from all the highway noise, our large, private sites with stone fire pits and picnic tables in both the tent area and the trailer - rv area are for you. If you need a few things to start your out-door experience, visit the campground store.

Our campground is a family oriented park with quiet hours from 10:00pm to 8:00am. Campers are allowed to have a fire as late as they want, as long as they are quiet and respect the rights of others. We do have night patrols and quiet hours are enforced. If you are looking to leave us a mess or want to disturb your neighbors, we suggest you try another campground before we ask you to leave.

The campground covers 417 forest acres on the south side of Sentinel Mountain and ranges from 650' in elevation to 1290'. The top of Sentinel Mountain is approximately 2200' in elevation. The lower sixty-five acre section of the park is used for tent and trailer camping with the remaining 352 acres occupied by our very own nature park. Swain Brook, the largest of five mountain brooks contained within the campground, drops 520 feet in elevation over its 1.6 mile stretch within the property, offering beautiful cascading waterfalls and dozens of stone and gravel water holes.

The nature park contains approximately 4 miles of hiking trails, mountain vistas, rest areas and much more. The park is open from 7:00am to dusk at no charge to registered campers. Other campground facilities include championship mini-golf, modern bathroom facilities with heated showers and flush toilets, a recreation building, full court basketball, horseshoe pits, tetherball, campground store (library, camping gear, ice, groceries, snacks, firewood, limited ice cream, etc.), dump station, 3-way hook-ups, basic tent sites and our large modern playground (8000 square feet).

General Notes

  • Reservations are recommended for Holiday weekends. We require 14 days notice for cancellations, less a $10 service charge. All reservations cancelled with less than 14 days notice will be charged in full.
  • Must be at least 6 yrs old to enter mini-golf course.
  • Adult supervision is required to play golf, use the playground or use other facilities like the nature park.
  • Leashed and attended pets are welcome if you have "pooper scoopers" and a bag.
  • Sorry, but no motorcycles are allowed.
